Discount Calculator

Work out the sale price and the real saving: enter the original price, a discount in percent or as an amount, and optionally a second discount on top — the tool shows the final price and the effective discount.

Final price—

Effective discount—

The second discount is applied to the reduced price, so two 10 percent discounts are not 20 percent. Amounts are rounded to the nearest cent. One comma or dot is the decimal separator (149,90 or 149.90); thousands separators work in pairs, as in 1.499,00.

What This Discount Calculator Does

This discount calculator turns an original price and one or two discounts into the numbers that matter: price after the first discount, final price, money saved and effective discount in percent. Each discount can be a percentage or a fixed amount, and a second discount is applied to the already reduced price, as stacked discounts work in a shop. A price of 100 with 20 percent and then 10 percent ends at 72, not 70, and the tool makes that visible: the effective discount is 28 percent, not 30. All amounts are rounded to the nearest cent and both 149,90 and 149.90 are accepted. Discounts above 100 percent or larger than the price are rejected with a message instead of a negative price. The tool calculates the discounts you type in; it does not know a shop's offers, it does not include shipping or taxes, and it stores nothing — the arithmetic runs in your browser.
